Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe has been recalled to the England squad over 3 years after his last appearance. Jermain Defoe returns to the England squad for the first time in over 3 years. The 34 year old is the second highest scoring Englishman this season with 14 goals, behind only Harry Kane who has 19 to his name, despite his club team Sunderland being rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table. In the 55 previous games, he scored 19 goals after debuting against Sweden in 2004. He's joined by four uncapped members of the squad, in James Ward-Prowse and Nathan Redmond (Southampton), Michael Keane (Burnley) and Michail Antonio (West Ham) as well as Jake Livermore who has a single cap to his name. Uncapped Michael Keane is also involved. Luke Shaw, who has only played twice since December and 19 year old Marcus Rashford are both included in a squad that is devoid of most of its big names due to injury. Hugo Lloris fined after admitting drink-driving

Tottenham Hotspurs' captain Hugo Lloris has been fined £50,000 and banned from driving for 20 months. Lloris had vomit in his Porsche Panamera when he was stopped by officers on 24 August as he drove through Marylebone. The 31-year-old was doing 15mph in a 30mph zone and had veered his car "toward parked vehicles" before correcting himself. The Frenchman provided a sample containing 80mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit in England and Wales is 35mg per 100ml. The officers who spotted Lloris were in an unmarked car and pulled him over as part of a routine stop. They had to help the goalkeeper from his car. Lloris, who lives in East Finchley, signed for Spurs in 2012 and has made 209 appearances for the club. He helped France to victory in the World Cup in the summer, as they beat Croatia 4-2 in the final.
