England reach World T20 semi-finals

England held on to beat Sri Lanka by 10 runs, reaching the World T20 semi finals for the second time.

After being set 172 to win, Sri Lanka were reduced to 15-4 before Angelo Matthews hit an unbeaten 73 from 54 balls to give Sri Lanka hope.

With Jos Buttler smashing an unbeaten 66 from 37 balls and Ben Stokes hammering the last ball of England's innings for 6, the 171-4 ended up being enough to give England victory. 

England scored 72 from the final five overs, Sharing stands with Eoin Morgan who scored 22 from 16 and Stokes for the final ball, Buttler showed his class to drive England towards a defendable total. 

After David Willey and Chris Jordan removed the Sri Lankan top four, the game looked finished, but with Matthews at the crease Sri Lanka held onto their hope. With Adil Rashid and Moeen Ali smashed for 63 from just four overs, only 22 was needed from the final two overs.

But Chris Jordan picked up another two wickets, leaving Ben Stokes to defend 15 in the final over. Hitting his yorkers, England's talisman saw them home by 10 runs to seal their semi-final berth. 

England will play New Zealand in the semi-finals, unless Afghanistan pull off an unlikely victory against West Indies, that also drops their net run rate below England's.
