Sport England to invest £88m into Grassroots sport

Sport England, the governing body for grassroots sport in England, have announced they are to invest £88m into various sports over the next four years.

Sport England are focusing on cycling, amongst other sports
in their funding announcement.
Cycling are set to receive over £17m of that, while Badminton will be awarded £7.25m.

Hockey, Gymnastics and Cricket are all set to receive significant amounts when the next set of funding rolls out in April 2017.

It follows UK Sports' announcement which aims at Elite athletes and their potential for World success, where Badminton lost all funding.

They have also announced the opening of two funding programmes to help governing bodies in hosting major events, totaling £3m.

These investments are set to help build on the 15 million people who play sport regularly in the country, which is their 'core market'.
