After whitewashing the West Indies, England now have important men in form ahead of 2017's Champions Trophy on home soil.
With both Alex Hales and Joe Root scoring centuries in the final game in Barbados, and Eoin Morgan, Jason Roy and Ben Stokes scoring runs in the series, England's top six look in better shape than any time since the disastrous 2015 World Cup campaign.
The returning Hales looked dominant in his man of the match performance, rewarding the selectors choice to go with him over Sam Billings, who never really took his chance to nail down a spot at the top of the order. Hales however, came back and showed exactly what he can do in scoring his fifth ODI century
However he has shown enough talent to warrant another chance in this increasingly destructive England batting line-up and with pre-tournament games vs Ireland coming up, he may get a further chance in the fluid middle-order before the tournament starts.
Despite it being the batting that stole the show in the three game series, the tourist's second string bowling attack stood up and performed when required.
Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett will surely have nailed down their places in the starting XI for the tournament opener vs Bangladesh in June with their wickets, but with players like David Willey, Jake Ball and Mark Wood all to return for the start of the English summer, the places of Steven Finn and either Moeen Ali or Adil Rashid will be at risk.
Some may argue against the validity of the comprehensive series win, as the West Indies didn't even qualify for the tournament and fielding a side devoid of their major International stars may seem like England barely beat a side of the quality to beat some associate nations.
This makes the three ODI's against South Africa at the end of may even more important. It will potentially be the only chance the host's have of competing against a team of similar caliber before the tournament start a few days later.
England go into the tournament as favourites, but will it be a hindrance or confidence booster for the side who showed no fear in their run to the final of the World T20 in 2016.
