Konta joins Murray, Evans in Indian Wells loss

Johanna Konta lost to Caroline Garcia to follow her fellow Brits Andy Murray and Dan Evans out of the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.

Johanna Konta couldn't do enough to advance
at Indian Wells.
Losing out in three sets, she went down 6-3 3-6 6-7(1-7) to France's Garcia after seemingly being on course for a last-16 appearance in the tournament.

But ultimately she was broken in the second set and was outplayed in the third set tiebreak to cap off a disappointing tournament where the GB stars were set to make a strong showing.

Britain's number one and two male players both fell in the second round, with Murray, the world number one, losing to qualifier Valek Pospisil, ranked 128 places below him, in straight sets.
World number one, Andy Murray, never got going in
his defeat to Valek Pospisil.

While Evans lost out to Kei Nishikori 6-3 6-4, he put up a more spirited performance than Murray and broke first in the first set, only for Nishikori to hit back immediately and seal the set in 42 minutes, then take the game not long after.

With Kyle Edmund playing Novak Djokovic in one of the later matches of the day, the tournament may lose it's entire British contingent before the start of the second week.

They now face two weeks off before heading to Miami for their opening single's fixtures, where they will be hoping to progress much further.
