End of an amazing season

So the 2017 summer cricket season has finished, one I never thought I'd be playing in April!

League Winners 🏆

A T20 cup final and League win as captain of my local team Heslerton Seconds later, I'm pretty happy with how it's gone.

The winter and early season training hadn't offered much optimism - the collapse of my former team Lockton CC was heartbreaking.

Signing for a team that had lost every game of the previous season was a huge challenge for me and the lads that travelled down from Lockton, but we were quietly confident.

The first XI recruited well, bringing over an awesome overseas Australian in off-spinner Scott Brennan and alongside our signing's the club shaped up well.

What a club!

A 200 run victory in the first game, despite a first ball duck from myself set us on a run of 9 league wins in a row, 12 in all competitions to put us in a cup final and top of the league.

However a 151 run loss to second placed Cloughton CC followed by a 2 wicket loss to Filey CC and a T20 cup final rout had the captain resign and the reins get thrust to me.

7 consecutive wins from there till the end of the season took us from outsiders to League winners and Promotion!

I had an awesome season with the lads and was an absolute pleasure to play with and lead them to my first senior trophy.
