England beat Australia by 12 runs in the first One Day International to be held at the new Optus Stadium in Perth.

From 151-2 however, the tourists fell away, losing their last 8 wickets for 108 runs. Joe Root made a classy 62, but the lower order that bailed their side out in the last game, were blown away by Tye's variations to finish 259 a.o.
Curran, in his third ODI struck first in the Australian reply - bowling David Warner in the fourth over but Marcus Stoinis took apart the English spinners in an attacking 87 to keep his side on top until his dismissal at 189-4.
From there Curran took centre stage to ensure the host's bowler's couldn't guide their side to a win, only Tim Paine (34) holding any chance of the victory, although a the ninth wicket partnership of 33 with Adam Zampa did create a few nerves.
With Curran showcasing his skills in this ODI, David Willey coming back in and Steven Finn, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes and Liam Plunkett all seasoned members of the squad, England's pace bowling reserves look very healthy, without even mentioning the returning Ben Stokes.
Despite their comprehensive 4-0 defeat in the Ashes, England will rightly be favourites for the white-ball crown that has eluded them for so long in next years Cricket World Cup in home conditions.
