Johan Cruyff dies aged 68

European Football lost a legend of the game today as Johan Cruyff, who played for Ajax and Barcelona, lost his battle with cancer. 

The triple Ballon-d'Or winner won three European cups with Ajax from 1971 whilst also reaching the 1974 World cup final with his Dutch team. As a manager he took Barcelona to their first European cup victory in 1992.

The Dutch FA said: "Words can hardly be found for this huge loss." Before adding that Cruyff was the "greatest Dutch footballer of all time and one of the world's best ever".

Barcelona FC spoke of their "pain and sorrow" at the news before adding "We will always love you, Johan. Rest in peace."

Cruyff was extremely successful as both a player and a manager. His titles as a player include:

Feyenoord: Dutch league title, Dutch Cup.
Ajax: European Cup (3), European Super Cup (2), Dutch league title (8), Dutch Cup (5), Intercontinental Cup and Super Cup.
Barcelona: Spanish league title, Spanish Cup. 
As a manager he won:
Ajax: European Cup Winners' Cup, Dutch Cup (2). Barcelona: European Cup, European Cup Winners' Cup, European Super Cup, Spanish league title (4), Spanish Cup, Spanish Super Cup (3).
Cruyff was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2015 but in just February he said he was "2-0 up" against the illness and was "sure i will end up winning."
