Alistair Cook hits century in final Test

England's all time leading run scorer signed off his Test career with a well made century at the Oval.

His 33rd Test century for his country came as part of a 259 run stand with his successor as captain Joe Root.

England's greatest batsman signs off in the best possible way
Cook holds the record for most Test runs for England as well as the most centuries amongst other records that are unlikely to be beaten in the modern era of cricket.

He had earlier overtaken Kumar Sangakarra to become the fifth-highest and the highest scoring left-handed batsman of all time, finishing on 12472 test match runs.

The milestone did come up in bizarre fashion, as a seemingly easy single behind square was thrown for an extra four overthrows as Jasprit Bumrah attempted to run Cook out.

The Oval crowd lauded him for a good few minutes, with play being held up so the fans could show their appreciation for England's greatest ever Test batsman.
